I am a dad and full-time engineer in the Austin Texas metro area. I have purchased several cameras over the years to take photos of my kids. My kids became teenagers and often like to do independent things and I started taking photos for fun as a hobby. I also enjoy hiking and camping and the state parks in my area and travel when I can, so my primary focus is landscape photography. Another goal is to practice milky way photography, which I have had some small success with. I also try to get wildlife photos when the opportunity arises while hiking. Most of my photos will have a Texas theme as that is my current place in the world.
I think that the writing about photography techniques and composition helps me learn and improve. So, I created this blog to post my photos, write a bit about what I was trying to achieve with the photos, what techniques I was attempting to use, and maybe a little about the gear. I always hope that a few people read and offer comments, suggestions, or questions about my photography or the places that I go.
My oldest daughter is also interested in photography, or photo-journalism to be specific. So, I have enjoyed sharing my interest with her. She has her first DSLR with the Nikon D5300 and lenses that I handed down to her.
I have a Nikon Z7ii, full-frame camera, and spend time learning the various features and functions of the camera. It is a professional grade camera so there is always something more to learn, but I love working with it. I have the 14-24mm f/2.8 lens and a 24-200mm lens that covers a lot of my hiking needs.

I have been on and off of instagram. I just feel kind of limited by it. I know that I ‘should’ be on there, but I don’t think about it much. Thanks for the comment.
