There is an enormous field of sunflowers in a park near the house that has been in full bloom. It took a lot of work, but I finally coerced my girls into letting me take them there and get some photos of them with the sunflowers in the background. I shot a lot of the photos with a film camera and I don’t have those photos developed yet, but I am eagerly awaiting them.
I have tried for a sunset here, but the sky has not been very cooperative.
My plan was to get there about an hour before sunset as the sun would be well placed to get photos with the treeline in the background rather than houses. As you can see, there is a large field of flowers before the treeline allowing for some nice depth and blurring of the yellow field in the distance.
I did manage to get a nice close up of a butterfly on one of the flowers.
I am sure this field will be dead and gray in a couple of months, but it is nice most of the year with the different varieties of flowers that crop up.
Nice technique, using the trees in the background for depth. I’ll try to remember that.

I was mostly just trying to get a background that isn’t ugly. There are a lot of houses, softball fields, antenna towers, a giant mound of dirt, etc. around this park and I like avoid PhotoShop work if I can.

They are all beautiful! I really can’t pick a favorite this time. I bet the photos of your girls will turn out beautiful as well. So did you bribe them with icecream or Pumpkin Spice lattes? 🙂

Well you really don’t need to be as helpful as you are with pictures you know! 😛

Did you warm up the peach pie and have vanilla icecream on top of it?
Oooh look what you did to my mind now. You should have named a pie I don’t like, a yucky pie. LOL!

I didn’t have ice cream, just pie 🥧. What kind of pie is yucky?

Well not many, LOL! Mincemeat pie is my Dad’s favorite pie but it doesn’t tempt me at all!! My Mom made one for him every Christmas, so he and my sister got a whole pie to themselves, for they were the only ones who liked it. Its another Pa.Dutch pie. 🙂

I remember trying a piece of rhubarb pie a long time ago and I had to make myself eat it as not to be rude, but I did not like it at all.
I don’t really like pumpkin pie, which makes it easy this time of year to turn down pie.

I will agree with you about pumpkin pie. Pumpkin spice lattes are good though. 🙂
When I was a waitress the owner of the restaurant made the best rhubarb pie! That was the only time I ever had rhubarb pie. All of her pies were good.

You have a camera with FILM? Where do you get film and…where do you get said film developed?

Film is still commonly available. I can get it developed at a camera store in Austin

You get it online?
There’s none around here nor are there developers. Even the Costco a few miles did away with its film development section.

Precision Camera in Austin does all sorts of film. You could probably do this online as well.

I’m just having fun shooting an old camera but there are still some serious film shooters out there.

That is so cool. Reminds me of my years using my Kodak Instamatic with 126. I wanted to cry when they stopped making film for it.

A field of Maximilian sunflowers is always pleasing to see, especially if we don’t see houses or other human elements in the background.

In this field before sunset I can arrange to shoot around all of that if I am careful
