A Hike and a Sunset

Just a sunset photo or two. There were high clouds Monday, so I went out to the (Balcones Canyonlands) wildlife refuge to shoot from a spot I hadn’t tried. My idea was to get as much of the hiking trail in the landscape as possible as well as some short trees or shrubs that were showing a little fall color. It is a difficult balance between shooting wide to get as much of the sky as possible without shrinking the hiking trail down to nothing in the distance. I ended up shooting at 18mm focal length.

The first photo is from a few seconds after sunset. The clouds are just beginning to transition to orange from white.

I waited a while to see if the clouds would turn pink. They made it to deep orange before fading to gray.

I might have brightened up the foreground foliage a little in Lightroom to make it show up. I also Photoshopped out a rock in the lower right that was too bright and gray. Hope it wasn’t too heavy-handed.

Thanks for the read and happy Thanksgiving.
