This is my Inks Lake page. I often go to Inks Lake State Park in Central Texas for hiking, shooting photos and sometimes camping. Inks Lake is west of Austin and is a smaller, constant-level lake on the Colorado River beneath the Lake Buchanan Dam.
I often go to Inks Lake around sunset to try to get some nice reflections in the lake
There is a lot of granite around the lake and sometimes this makes a nice foreground element.
There are also many hiking trails around the lake with some interesting overlooks.
There is a small waterfall that is more active after a good rain. Below are a few long exposures from around this waterfall.
Sometimes after the sun has gone down and there is just a touch of color still left in the sky, I take silhouette pictures with the lake in the background.
This is one of the nicest State Parks around Central Texas. The lakes is not big and crowded with speed boats. It is generally calm and nice for canoeing or kayaking.
